There are lots of club competitions to enter – these are an excellent way to meet other St Crispin Club bowlers and test yourself against them.
Once the competition secretary has made the draw - the 'comps' are displayed on the notice board just as you enter the St Crispin Social Club. (Also on our website)
It is up to the winner of each fixture to update the sheets.
Whether it is pairs, triples or rinks for most competitions your partner(s) are drawn at random.
There are, however, one or two competitions that you decide who you enter with.
Watch out for the dates for the competitions as some are played ON a certain date whilst the others are played BY a certain date.
It is advisable to play your match well before the cut-off date.
Once you know who you are playing against it is up to the ‘home’ player/team to arrange the fixture – to do so you offer your opponent 3 dates (and a time) on which to play.
They decide out of these dates which to play.
If they cannot decide on dates offered then your opponent will forfeit the match.
(Do try and accommodate an alternative date before going down this route – we are a friendly club.)
**Beware - It may be that the competition secretary ‘scratches’ you both from the competition if they feel that not enough effort
was put into arranging a fixture within the cut-off date.**
Make sure you ‘book in’ at the pavilion.
Handicaps are set by the club – before commencing any handicap competitions you alter the scoreboard so it starts at your handicap. E.g. If you are allowed 4 shots and your opponent has been awarded a 2 shot handicap the scoreboard would start off at 4 – 2 if you are ‘home’ and 2 – 4 if you are ‘away’.
If drawn as the ‘home’ side it is up to you to arrange the fixture and organise a marker if one is required.
In tossing, it is the home player who spins the coin, and the visitor who calls.
If you are the ‘home’ team please set out & clear away the rink apparatus.
