How we came into existence and a little bit about us.
St Crispin was a large psychiatric hospital located on Berrywood Road in Duston, Northampton.
It was established in 1876 as the Berrywood Lunatic Asylum and renamed as St Crispin during the 1930’s.
The hospital became part of the National Health Service (NHS) in 1949 and closed in 1995.
A men's bowls section was founded in 1953 and a ladies section formed in the early 1980's, both sections are still a thriving and integral part of St Crispin Social Club to this present day.
The club has established many wonderful fixtures over the years, many of which are still maintained on a regular basis.
As a club, we also enjoy competing in the Northamptonshire area triples leagues. These are usually played on Monday night for the men & Friday night for the ladies.
We have many internal club competitions - all of which are keenly contested.
